Manitoba has 27 competitors with 14 men and 13 women at three day national meet

The Bison track and field teams seek Top 10 finish at 2018 U SPORTS Track and Field Championships held at U of Windsor from March 8-10. Heading into the national championships, The Bison men's team is ranked seventh overall in U SPORTS while the women's team is ranked number 12. The three day meet will commence on Thursday, March 8 at 12:30 p.m. CT and start again on Friday, March 9 at 1 p.m. CT and third day starts at 11:30 a.m. CT and finishing around 3:30 p.m.

The Bisons looks to improve on the team standings from the 2017 nationals (women's squad was tied for 11th spot and men's team finished 14th). Manitoba has a larger contingent at this year's event with 27 competitors with 14 men and 13 women at the three day meet.

Bisons who look to medal include back-to-back Canada West women's 60m champion fourth year Tegan Turner while double CW champion fourth year Brooke-Lynn Boyd in the women's shot put. On the men's side, third year Oyinko Akinola medalled three times in men's long, triple and high jump while fifth year Gee-ef Nkwonta was a top triple jumper all 2017-18 season.

Bison T&F head coach Claude Berube, in his 21st season, stated, "Both teams have an opportunity to finish Top 10 at the U SPORTS championships and pretty excited with a larger group in a long time at nationals with more people qualified in individual and relay."
